In the Southern Hemisphere, programs like Lynchpin and Living Data work to encourage arts/ocean science collaborations that both stand with the important science of climate change but also open up the stories of Southern Ocean and Antarctica marine science to the community in new ways; in Europe at this year’s Venice Biennale, curators are working to bring art to the scientists who work in Antarctica “to feed the minds and souls of scientists”!
At last year’s Architecture Biennale in Venice, a pavilion popped up that didn’t fit the usual profile: The Antarctic Pavilion. And it is back for this year’s Biennale of contemporary art.
Many countries send artists for residencies in Antarctica, Australia included, but the curator of this year’s pavilion wants art to travel to Antarctica
