Prof Lesley Hughes,  a lead author for the UN’s IPCC Fourth and Fifth Assessment Reports,  will speak following the premiere screening of Running out of time: a 164km run through Tasmania’s Wilderness,  a short film about the non-stop run by Jen Boocock, Jenny Sprent and Stephen Rae through Southwest Tasmania to raise money for the Climate Council.

Prof Hughes, an ecologist in the Department of Biological Sciences at Macquarie University, is an expert in impacts of climate change on species and ecosystems.  She is Co-convenor of the Terrestrial Biodiversity Adaptation Research Network, Chair of the Tasmanian Climate Action Council and a member of Climate Scientists Australia and the Wentwork Group of Concerned Scientists.  Prof Hughes was a member of the Expert Advisory Group on Climate Change and Biodiversity for the Australian Greenhouse Office and the Department of Climate Change.  Her research has been published extensively in peer-reviewed journals.
